Background

Originally built in 1910, Old Trafford is the infamous home of Manchester United Football Club. With a capacity of over 74,000 seats, it is the second biggest football stadium in Great Britain behind Wembley.
Buckingham Group were appointed as main contractors to improve on-site accessibility, enabling all fans to enjoy ‘the beautiful game’. The project saw the installation of several ramps and improved lift access for wheelchair users.

Old Trafford has a dedicated Ability Suite, designed with lowered kiosk facilities, accessible toilets and power options to recharge wheelchairs, scooters and portable ventilators.

Our Solution

The main challenge faced on this project was the small window of opportunity to complete installation. Working around a live site, which hosted regular premier league games often proved difficult; our install team had to work to strict deadlines and health and safety procedures, ensuring that all equipment was safely out of sight before any games began.

Rotec provided several steel doors solutions across the premises, including fire and security doors and several roller shutters.

Despite the installation challenges, by working collaboratively with Buckingham and the end client, we achieved a high-quality result.
