Background

Angel Square brings 189,000 sq ft of energising workspace to one of London’s most connected neighbourhoods, just minutes from King’s Cross St Pancras. Designed as a modern HQ environment, the building needed more than functional access points — it required doors that could support safety, security and everyday movement while helping create a workplace people are proud to call home.

Rotec supplied a 70-door package for the project, including FR60 fire-rated doors and approximately four SR2 security doors for the basement level. The package incorporated a range of ironmongery and locking solutions, including access control, sashlocks, maglocks and personnel latch-only sets, with around 30 doors featuring vision panels — some with integrated louvres — to balance compliance, security and practical day-to-day use.

The Challenge

As the project approached completion, the key challenge was maintaining clear communication and coordination during the snagging process. With several moving parts on site, including outstanding items, material availability and sign-off requirements, it was important to keep momentum without compromising quality. A more structured approach to inspections and joint reviews helped support progress, protect the programme and ensure the final door package met the standard expected at Angel Square.

Our Solution

Rotec responded by creating a clearer, proactive route to completion. Weekly review meetings were introduced to keep the programme visible, priorities aligned and decisions moving. Responsibility for snag close-out was also strengthened, with visiting Rotec site managers taking greater ownership of inspections and progress reviews, helping the project team move forward with more clarity and confidence.

This was supported by new material-handling protocols to ensure deliveries were only made with Rotec supervision on site and stored securely in a lockable tool vault or secure room. Rotec also increased its site management resource from two to four managers, giving each manager greater capacity to visit projects more frequently, support the client team and protect the quality of the finished door package.
