Background and experience
I initially thought I’d be suited to an accounting role having studied it at school, but landed a role in the maritime industry after I left school, doing a mix of all things from customer service through to project management which helped provide a rounded view of the business world which has definitely helped build the foundation and skills I use every day now.
How did you end up working as a Executive Assistant?
With the way my career was going, I never thought I’d transition into an EA, but the opportunity came up at Rotec to work closely with senior management as an EA. The fast-paced nature of the company, alongside the ambitious vision and growth plans were definitely big driving factors in taking the role, despite limited EA experience.
Key accomplishments and contributions in your current role.
Working on some of the large business-system projects that impact the long-term success of all departments in the business.
What does your day-to-day look like?
As most EAs would probably say, no two days are the same; some may be restful and organised, while others can be be non-stop firefighting, but it usually involves trying to keep the executives on the front foot, managing diaries, co-ordinating meetings, handling communication and keeping various cogs turning behind the scenes for everything to run as smoothly as possible on the outside.
How long have you been with Rotec?
Since January 2025, so approx. 16 months!
What do you enjoy most about working for Rotec?
The ambition and drive of the company – it’s heading to new heights fast and I’m just glad to have a seat on this journey to the next level. As Faye said in her employee spotlight, ‘there’s nothing stagnant about Rotec – fast-moving and constantly evolving for the better, both individually and as a team’!
How do you like to spend your spare time?
Generally keeping active, whether that’s helping to look after my little niece, going for hikes, or playing squash!
